STUDENT NEWS:

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner, Josh Coulter!  Gatorade is the drink first developed at the University of Florida.  Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize.  Today’s trivia:   Who said, “That is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”?
  • 8TH grade girls’ basketball will practice today after school.
  • Please check the Lost & Found in the front office if you are missing items such as: jackets, hoodies, shoes,etc.
  • Nebraska Youth Theatre presents, “Night of the Living Dead”, the play, this Thursday thru Saturday.  Stop by the office for more information if you are interested.
  • For the next two weeks we will be sharing a “Pay It Forward” idea.  Today’s idea is to help a friend.  “Pay It Forward” t-shirts will be on sale during lunch for $10, today thru Wednesday.

STUDENT NEWS:

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner, Chace McGee!  The Pittsburgh Steelers have won the most Super Bowls with six victories out of eight attempts. Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize.  Today’s trivia:   What popular drink was first developed at the University of Florida?
  • The last night for auditions for the musical is tonight! Your permission form must be turned in before 3:00 today in order to audition.
    All students that auditioned should come to rehearsal on Monday from 3 – 4 in A-1 to receive your part assignment, script and rehearsal schedule.  We will start a read through of the show on Monday and continue on Wednesday.  All students that are available should come Wednesday as well.  Blocking rehearsals will begin on Thursday of next week.
  • 7TH grade girls’ basketball will practice today after school.
  • Attention any 6th through 8th grade boys who will be attending East high school and would like to play basketball.  East is hosting a Midnight Madness overnight basketball event tonight!  If you are interested, pick up a flyer in the main office.
  • If you are a 7th or 8th grade student who thinks they are signed up for the summer Washington D.C. trip, please check for your name on the list outside the cafeteria.   If you’re not on the list and think you should be, see Mrs. Fowler in C-21.

  • Students:  Auditions for the musical Kokunut Island will be held today and tomorrow from 3:10 – 4:30 each night.  You need only attend one night!  YOU MUST HAVE A SIGNED PARENT/GUARDIAN PERMISSION FORM TURNED IN  PRIOR TO YOUR AUDITION.  Sign up for your audition day on the sign up on Mrs. Oltman’s door (A-1).
  • 7TH grade girls’ basketball will practice today after school.

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner, Tesslyn Joy!  Martin Luther King said the quote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”.  Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize.  Today’s Wellness Wednesday trivia:  Teenagers should get at least how many hours of sleep per night?
  • We have the winners from the sleep challenge!  The following students were randomly drawn from the group of 76 students at Lefler who met their goal all 7 days of the sleep challenge: Makenna Lindgren, Paul Riley, Evan Smejdir, Jacob Wehrman, and Ariana Welter. Please go to B24 to collect your prize!

  • No winner from last week’s trivia!  The answer:  Bellevue is the third largest city in Nebraska with a population of 50,137.  Today’s trivia:  What famous person said:  “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”?
  • The People’s City Mission feeds hundreds of individuals and families each day.  Every donation is important.  This Thursday is Thanksgiving Thursday.  Bring your cans and boxes of your favorite Thanksgiving food and help your class win the hat day.

STUDENT NEWS:

  • No winner from last week’s trivia!  The answer:  Crocodiles have no sweat glands, so they keep cool using their mouths to release heat.  In fact, they will often sleep with their mouth open to cool down.  Today’s trivia:  Omaha and Lincoln are the two largest cities in Nebraska.  What city comes in as number three with a population of just over 50,000?

STUDENT NEWS:

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner, Conor Gray!   Gunsmoke was the longest TV western show of all time.  Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize.  Today’s trivia:  Crocodiles have no sweat glands, so how do they keep cool?
  • Monday is Macaroni Monday and the announcement of who will be getting 10 extra minutes of recess.  Bring boxes of macaroni or other donations to help out those less fortunate in our city.

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner, Barrett Morrison!   Tom Osborne played his college football at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.  Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize.  Today’s trivia:  What TV western was on for 20 years and was the longest of this type (Hint:  you can still see reruns on TV land)?
  • Lefler Singers will meet today from 3 – 4 and perform from 4 – 4:15.  See you there.
  • Tomorrow is Fruity Friday!  Bring cans of fruit for the food drive (any other donation is also welcome).  Who will be getting that extra recess time next week?  Class of 2018 can you do it?

STUDENT NEWS:

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner, Cassie Nash!   Alice and the Cheshire Cat of Alice in Wonderland had the quotes from last Friday’s trivia question.  Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize.  Today’s trivia:  Where did the UNL athletic director Tom Osborne play college football?
  • So are you ready for the next class challenge?  The Lincoln People’s City Mission is asking Lefler students to participate in the Fright Hunger Food Drive during October.  Our goal is to reach 12,000 pounds with donations of canned and boxed food.  Grade levels will be competing against each other and there will be prizes each week as well as an overall winner.  Bring your non-perishable food starting tomorrow and drop it off in your grade level tub.  Tubs will be located at each entrance in the morning – don’t put it in the wrong tub!  The grade level with the most items at the end of this week will get ten extra minutes of recess one day next week.  Will it be the class of 2017 again or can one of the other classes bring them down.
  • Congratulations Class of 2017 for winning the Clean Cafeteria Challenge.   All members of the Class of 2017 will have a popcorn treat at our next Pride class.
