LUNCH TODAY:  FISH NUGGETS, FISH STRIPS AND POPCORN SHRIMP, COUNTRY BEEF PATTIE SANDWICH, MEATBALL SUB

STUDENT NEWS:

  • No one got the correct answer to yesterday’s trivia question.  The “ZIP” in ZIP Code stands for Zone Improvement Program.  Today’s trivia question: Like Nebraska, how many states in the U.S. end with the letter A (hint: also count states with two word names like South Dakota)?
  • 6th, 7th, and 8th grade wrestling practice starts February 25th.  Sign-up sheets are in the gym.
  • Any students interested in participating in the LPS Science Fair need to get a registration form from their science teacher and return it to them as soon as possible.  A parent and teacher signature is required.  The registration deadline is March 1.
  • The Humane Society is accepting donations at this time.  If you would like to contribute something, there is a list of items located on the bulletin board by the office.   Please bring your donation to the office.  Thank you!

STUDENT NEWS:

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner An Dang!  Alexander Hamilton is on the ten-dollar bill.  Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize. Today’s trivia question: What does the “ZIP” stand for in ZIP code?

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner Parker Luke!  Peru State College started in 1867.  Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize. Today’s trivia question: Three big TV networks for many years have been ABC, NBC, and CBS.  Name the acronym for CBS.

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner Felecia Graff!  A koala bear is the native Australian animal.  Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize. Today’s trivia question: What was the first college or university in the state of Nebraska?  It started in 1867 and it is not the University of Nebraska.
  • The Student Council will be selling popcorn today after school by the main entrance.  Cost is 50 cents per bag.
  • Want to be involved in supporting sports?  Want to be able to stand up in front of the crowd and cheer?  Looking for talented, spirited, intelligent students wanting to show support for Lincoln High athletics by participating in cheerleading!

Today’s trivia question: What native Australian animal is often referred to as a bear, but in actuality is a marsupial (a group of animals that have pouches)?
  • 8th grade singers attending Lincoln High next year:  The choir director will be here next week to listen to incoming freshman for the choir.  If you are interested in singing at Lincoln High next year, please put your name on the sign on A-1 by Friday afternoon.  Mrs. Oltman will then contact you to let you know when to come down to sing.

  • No correct answer to yesterday’s trivia question.  Sloane Stephens just recently upset Serena Williams in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open Tennis Tournament Today’s trivia question: What is the public building in Omaha that has seven floors underground.  It is also the corporate headquarters for a major insurance company.

  • No one got the correct answer to yesterday’s trivia question.  A Tale of Two Cities is the book by Charles Dickens.  Today’s trivia question: A gaggle is a group of geese waddling on the ground.  If the same group is in the air, they are called something different.  What is the term?
  • Musical Cast:  Please return your scripts to Mrs. Oltman ASAP.
  • Congratulations to all who ran the PACER last week.  Here are the results for the PACER Challenge by grade level.

3rd Place:  8th grade total is 5,268 laps; 2nd Place:  7th grade total is 5,499 laps; and 1st Place:  6th gr. leading with 6,069 laps.

We also have a new school record for 6th grade girls.  This goes to Cassie Nash with 81 laps!

  • Congratulations to today’s trivia winner Chace McGee.  Mount McKinley, in Alaska, is the highest point in North America at 20,320 feet.  Come to the office during lunch to collect your prize. Today’s trivia question: A Charles Dickens book has this quote:  “It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”  Name the title of the book.
  • 8th graders, High School Choice Forms are due by the end of school today.  Please see Mrs. Dowding in B-4 if you need to make arrangements to turn your form in on-time.
