Welcome to Lefler Middle School!

Millard Lefler Middle School opened its doors for the first time on September 12, 1955. Our school is named after Mr. Millard Lefler, a former assistant principal at Lincoln High and superintendent of schools from 1920 to 1948. During his tenure as superintendent, Mr. Lefler oversaw the implementation of the junior high school system, vocational training in the high schools, and adult education programs in the Lincoln Public Schools. Lefler is proud to continue his tradition of excellence.

From the Principal

Welcome to Lefler Middle School – Home of the Lions!

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the principal of Lefler Middle School and to work alongside an exceptionally talented and dedicated staff as we continue to fulfill our school’s vision: Building a Community of Learners. At Lefler, the academic success and personal development of each student are our highest priorities. Our mission is that all students and staff will collaborate to learn, improve, and achieve through engagement, effort, and self-efficacy.

At the heart of all we do at Lefler is a deep commitment to ensuring that every student is seen, heard, valued, and cared for. We strive to create a school environment where all learners feel a true sense of belonging and are supported as they grow—both academically and personally.

Lefler Middle School serves approximately 400 students in grades six through eight, offering a dynamic and comprehensive middle-level program. Our specialist teachers in art, music, physical education, computer science, and library media bring expertise and passion to their instruction, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for all students.

We are proud to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment that encourages high levels of student effort and participation. At Lefler, our Lions live by our core values: Respect, Ownership, Acceptance, and Responsibility—they ROAR!

Our dedicated staff work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. Differentiated instruction and a focus on individual strengths allow each student to be appropriately challenged and to experience success. We are committed to supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of every learner, recognizing the importance of these middle school years in shaping future success.

Family and community partnerships are essential to the success of our students. We deeply value the insights parents provide and the collaborative relationship we build to support each child’s unique journey. We are fortunate to have an active and supportive PTO, which enhances the educational experience by offering enrichment opportunities and meaningful ways for families to become involved in our school community.

I look forward to an amazing year. Happy 70th Anniversary, Lefler!
