Computer Department

Karen Walls

The Computer Department at Lefler offers classes for 7th and 8th grade. The goal is to have students be actively involved while increasing computer literacy and skills. With constant technological changes in the world around us, all students will benefit from this.

The 7th grade Computer Connections curriculum has been designed for 18 weeks, with students in attendance every other day. Students will experience various software applications using Appleworks 6 including: word processing, data base, spread sheet, drawing and painting. In addition, students enhance their search skills on the Internet. This class will help students develop a great foundation to successful use and apply computers in school and in life.

The 8th grade computer class focuses on multimedia skills. This class is designed for any student who likes to work independently on the computer and wants to learn more about technology. Students will work in presentation programs with text, graphics, video, sound and animations. Projects can be centered around the interest of the student or be related to other classes. Students can be creative and will work with digital cameras, video cameras, and scanners, while learning about Photoshop Elements, iPhoto, and iMovie.
